Morty the Moose – his story

Some travellers plan every stop.

Morty just wanders into them.

Born somewhere deep within Canada’s boreal forest—though nobody is quite sure where—Morty has spent his life exploring lakes, wetlands, forests, and backroads from one end of the country to the other.

If there’s a road running through wilderness, chances are Morty has crossed it.

Probably at the worst possible moment.

Like the moose he represents, Morty is impossible to ignore. Towering above most wildlife and built like a living tank, he moves through the landscape with quiet confidence and absolutely no concern for anyone else’s schedule.

That’s one of the first lessons he teaches travellers.

Slow down.

The journey isn’t a race.

It’s an experience.

Morty has little interest in crowded cities or busy highways. He prefers winding roads that follow rivers, remote campgrounds beside hidden lakes, and the quiet beauty of places where nature still sets the pace.

He’s most active at dawn and dusk, when the forests wake up and the roads belong to the wildlife.

Many travellers have stories about spotting Morty during a road trip.

Some remember a sudden silhouette emerging from the morning mist.

Others recall rounding a corner to find him calmly standing in the middle of the road, completely unbothered by the line of vehicles waiting for him to move.

Morty never hurries.

And somehow, after a few minutes, neither does anyone else.

His dream is simple.

To keep exploring Canada’s wild places and remind travellers that they are visitors in a landscape shared with countless other creatures.

Because while roads connect communities, the wilderness connects us to something much older.

As one of the Animals of Rumble, Morty represents patience, respect for nature, and the spirit of exploration that comes from venturing beyond the cities and into Canada’s vast natural spaces.

If you meet Morty during your travels, give him space, slow down, and enjoy the moment.

You may be delayed for a few minutes.

But you’ll probably remember the encounter for years.

Morty’s Motto

“Slow down. The wilderness isn’t going anywhere.”

Fun Fact: Morty has unintentionally appeared in more vacation photos than any other Animal of Rumble—and he still has no idea why everyone gets so excited when they see him.
