Della Loon – The Dawn Rider

Della Loon – The Dawn Rider

Some riders chase destinations.

Della chases moments.

Born in Kenora, Ontario, Della Loon learned early that some of the most beautiful experiences happen before most people are awake. The first light over a quiet lake. Mist rising from the water. The stillness of a road with no traffic and nowhere urgent to be.

That’s where she feels most at home.

Like the loon she represents, Della is graceful, independent, and deeply connected to the landscape around her. She doesn’t ride to escape life.

She rides to experience it.

While others sleep, Della is already on the road. By the time the first coffee is brewing in towns across Northern Ontario, she’s often hours into a ride, following winding highways through the Canadian Shield as the day slowly wakes around her.

Her vintage BMW R-series suits her perfectly.

It’s not flashy.

It’s not loud.

It doesn’t demand attention.

It simply does what it was built to do.

Smoothly.

Reliably.

Elegantly.

Della believes a motorcycle deserves respect. She maintains her BMW meticulously, not because she wants compliments, but because a well-cared-for machine will carry you farther and more faithfully than one that’s taken for granted.

To her, maintenance is part of the journey.

So is patience.

So is appreciation.

The roads she loves most aren’t necessarily famous. They’re the quiet highways running alongside lakes, through forests, and across the granite landscapes of Ontario’s north. Places where the scenery unfolds slowly and every kilometre feels connected to the land around it.

People who ride with Della often struggle to explain the experience afterward.

They describe it as peaceful.

Effortless.

Almost musical.

Somehow the ride always seems to find its own rhythm.

No rushing.

No dragging.

No pressure.

Just movement, scenery, and a feeling that’s difficult to put into words.

Della never tries to explain it.

She knows some things aren’t meant to be explained.

They’re meant to be experienced.

Whether she’s watching the sunrise over Lake of the Woods, following a lonely highway through the Shield, or enjoying a quiet cup of tea beside the water, Della understands something many travellers forget.

The journey isn’t separate from the destination.

The journey is the destination.

As one of the Animals of Rumble, Della Loon represents mindfulness, appreciation, and the belief that the best rides are often the ones that slow you down enough to notice what you’ve been missing.

If you meet Della on your travels, she’ll probably recommend a road you’ve never heard of and a lake you’ve never seen.

And she’ll almost certainly suggest leaving before sunrise.

Della Loon’s Motto

“Leave early. Travel gently. Notice everything.”

Fun Fact: Della has been known to ride fifty kilometres out of her way just to watch the sunrise from the perfect lakeside overlook.
